CORPORATE INFORMATION CONTACTS

Bordas

Founded in 1946 by Henri and Pierre Bordas, Bordas firm remains true to its initial mission: facilitating access to various types of knowledge, supporting pupils as they take their first steps in the learning process, and helping them to develop their knowledge base.

From kindergarten to the baccalauréat school-leaving examination, Bordas publishes:

• educational tools, textbooks, classroom materials;
• scholastic aids;
• works on educational methods;
• cultural reference books.

Noteworthy series include:

> For the classroom: the "Tavernier" series (life and earth sciences - all levels), the "Plus-que-Parfait" series (grammar - junior secondary), the "Littérature" series (French - senior secondary) and “Voices” (English - senior secondary)

> For the home: the "Tout le Programme" series (kindergarten with CD-ROM, primary), the "L’Année de…" series, the "Mémo" series, the "Cahiers d’écriture" series (for right-handed and left-handed children) and the
"Bordas Collège" series.

> Cultural reference works (see our Reference business)
Bordas, already a key player in the market for schoolbooks and scholastic aids, is seeking further growth by refocusing on its two complementary pillars: the Education and Reference sectors.

> The Electronic Satchel from BORDAS and NATHAN

Weighing less than 1 kg, the Electronic Satchel is a mobile tool (laptop or touchpad) containing electronic textbooks for pupils: a catalogue of 12 textbooks is available, covering French, mathematics, life and earth sciences, history and geography, physics and chemistry, civics, English, and social and working life for grades 9-11. The first version of this project, developed jointly by Editions Bordas and Editions Nathan, came out in 2000. Today, over 4,000 pupils work with these resources. Research conducted with National Centre for Scientific Research laboratories on artificial intelligence (Paris 6) and cognitive science (Paris 8) has led to improvements in the architecture of the Electronic Satchel and to the development of real educational benefits for both teachers and pupils.
